equicenta™ CTM
What is it?
equicenta™ CTM is a microparticulate connective tissue matrix derived from equine umbilical cord Wharton’s jelly and processed under human‑grade, ISO‑aligned quality standards. The product contains no cultured cells and is formulated as a ready‑to‑inject suspension in 0.9% NaCl with 5% DMSO.
Each 1.5 mL dose contains finely micronized, fetal‑origin connective tissue particulate that provide an extracellular matrix (ECM) scaffold plus a broad spectrum of structural,catabolic, anti‑catabolic, and anti‑inflammatory proteins. It is administered intra‑articularly or intralesionally by licensed veterinarians for horses with appendicular joint, tendon, or ligament disease associated with lameness and performance limitation.

How does it works?
equicenta™ CTM delivers a dual‑phase mechanism: immediate release of soluble mediators followed by slower matrix‑based remodeling as the allograft degrades. The umbilical‑derived ECM provides structural collagens, proteoglycans, and glycosaminoglycans that mirror healthy joint and tendon matrices, giving cells a native‑like scaffold for repair.
At the same time, the product supplies a concentrated mix of anti‑inflammatory cytokines (including IL‑1ra), protease inhibitors (such as alpha‑2‑macroglobulin), and growth factors (including VEGF) that help counter catabolic signaling and support vascularization and tissue homeostasis. Ex vivo data show that the product releases sGAGs over time without driving additional PGE₂ production, fitting a non‑pro‑inflammatory, ECM‑releasing profile.
